John T. Stiens

John T. Stiens, 59, of Tamaroa, passed away at 9:59 A.M., Saturday, June 29, 2002 at the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.
John was lead maintenance man at Penn Aluminum at Murphysboro. He was a member of the Nine Mile Baptist Church at Tamaroa. He was a US Army veteran of the Viet Nam War serving as a X-Ray Tech. He was a member of the IBEW Local.
John was born August 16, 1942 at Cutler, IL the son of Aloysius and Norma Marjorie (Wise) Stiens.
He married Patricia A. Pickett on March 4, 1967 at Sparta, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Tamaroa, four children- Stephanie Wilson of Centralia, Charlotte Stiens of Carbondale, Robby Stiens of Mt. Vernon, Crystal Stiens of Du Quoin, brother- James Stiens of Percy, four sisters- Janet Brandon of Downieville, CA, Judy Kinney of Sparta, Jennifer Smith of Sparta, Jackie Stiens of Sparta, five grandchildren- Rachel Wilson, Lois Wilson, Beverly Wilson, Tyler Lyday and Gabrielle Stiens.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister JoAnn.
Funeral services were at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 2, 2002 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Kevin Carrothers officiating.
Friends called from 6 to 9 P.M., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Tamaroa Cemetery.
Friends may make memorials to the Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association. 
Military graveside rites were conducted by the Du Quoin VFW Post 513.
